Details | A gigacalorie (Gcal) is a unit of energy used mainly in the field of industrial energy demand, process energy and the heating sector. It is derived from the basic unit calorie (cal), used to express the amount of heat energy required to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius. A gigacalorie is equal to one billion (10^9) calories.
